New Gist Features for Search, Group Email and Tagging

Exciting stuff to announce today about our newly shipped Gist features that will save you time and help you strengthen your network.

First off, we’ve updated the search functionality in Gist for Gmail and Gist for Outlook. Now you can more easily search and find the contacts you need to connect with around a specific event or interaction. Just click on the drop down menu for ‘People on My Calendar’ or ‘Recently Added’ to quickly fire off an email requesting more contact info, see where else you need to connect with them online, or review all of your meeting attender’s recent content.

Check out the short video below for a quick tutorial.

Group Email and Easy Tagging

This is a huge time saver! Now in Gist for Gmail and Gist for Outlook you can quickly add tags to a list of contacts to make them easier to find next time you need to get in touch, or to help you categorize your contacts into interest-based or project-based groups. Using tags you can send specific groups emails more quickly and find your interest-based contacts by a quick keyword search in Gist. Easy as pie.

Check out the video tutorial on tagging and group emails below.

Where can I get it?

Gist for Outlook 2010 64-Bit Version is Here!

The Newest Version of Gist for Outlook

We know you’ve been waiting for Gist for Outlook, 64-bit version, and we’re happy to announce that it’s here!

Gist for Outlook takes all of your contacts, puts them in one place, and allows you to find them easily in Outlook. And because it works with your account at Gist.com, you get all of that information on the web and on your mobile too.

Whether you’re looking for a moment of insight right before you send the email; seeking the latest status update from a friend; or just like seeing the pictures of your friends in your Outlook, we can help! Gist gives you powerful search capabilities (by name and tag) and also makes it easier for you to manage traditional contact information like phone numbers (and newer contact information like social network handles and news, discovered for you automatically.)

Where to Get Gist for Outlook

You can download Gist for Outlook 2010 64-bit version here.

And if you’re using Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 32-bit version, you can also use Gist here.

What’s New in Gist, March 2011

Periodically we like to highlight some of our new and changed features so that you can learn more about what Gist can do for you. In the most current release of Gist, here are some new features we’d like to share with you!

Tags Help You Build and Use Your Contact Lists

Is someone you know a “friend,” “family,” or “work” contact? Do they like to play “baseball” or have a preference for “fine wine”? Did you meet them in “NYC” or at a “conference”? Are they a “customer,” “partner,” or “influencer”?

Use tags in Gist for Chrome, Gist for Firefox, and Gist for Outlook to make it easier to find and group contacts, and to know how you’re connected to someone. We’ve made it easy for you by auto-tagging if the person came from Outlook, Chrome, or another account.

Really fast contact search

Our newest Gist release brings the power of contact search to Gist for Chrome, Gist for Firefox and Gist for Outlook and puts all of your contacts together in one place. It’s fast! You can search for first name, last name, or search for all of the contacts having a particular tag. We’ve also added handy preview pictures so you can see which face you’re looking for in your search.

Easier to Sign in to Gist Support

When you go to http://support.gist.com, if you’re already logged into Gist, you’ll be able to enter and review support requests without having to create a separate account at our support site.

If you’ve got an idea for a new Gist feature for or want to see what other Gist users have suggested, visit our Support Site.

Improvements to Contact Page and Company Layout

You told us the contact page needed to be easier to read, and we heard you! We moved the controls that turn Gist “widgets” on and off higher on the page so that they’re easier to find. You can customize your Gist experience by arranging these widgets or hiding the ones you don’t need.

Gist widgets include Notes – which allows you store a note and retrieve it later; Tags – allowing you to group a contact into a list; Shared Contacts – showing you all of the people who’ve been on an email thread or a meeting; Suggested Profile Information – which shows you how Gist finds contact information for you; Correspondence – showing you the last time you emailed a contact; and Google Search – giving you a custom search you can use for a contact.

On Gist company detail pages, we also include a People List of your contacts at a company, a Company Profile – containing information from Crunchbase; and a Company Stock Chart – containing information from Wikinvest.
