Shiny and New – Gist in Gmail now works with Chrome

We announced our support for all Gmail accounts mid-November via our Gist for Firefox browser extension.  Enabling Gist via a browser extension gives us the foundation to bring Gist to all of your favorite sites starting with the one you requested most – Gmail.

Today we are announcing the availability of Gist for Chrome supporting Gmail in exactly the same way.  You can download it here and be up and running quickly.  Give it a try and tell us what you think, how we can improve, and what sites and applications you think Gist needs to support next.

I must say I am very disappointed. I’ve been waiting for the Chrome extension for awhile now, even before I’ve heard about the Firefox one since Gist for Gmail (through google apps) was a nice addition, but not all the wonderful. Now that I have installed the new extension, first thing i see is that it’s layout is not integrated with gmail, such as the Google Apps one does and that it doesn’t give you too much aggregated information about the contact your email includes. I’m sticking with etacts.com on this end.

I am loving the rich profile view in my Firefox browser!

I only have one request…I don’t know if Gist is planning on implementing any analytics tools, showing us stats, or anything like that…but IF you do, PLEASE tell the common user how to use the stats.

There is so much data, so many stats, in many of these tools, that most users are probably buried under it, and thus they fail to achieve any utility. If you plan to do analytics, then continue to set yourself apart by helping us use the data. Let me know if I can help you when you get to that point.

Mark – thanks for your feedback – if you have ideas for statistics that would be helpful, send them to feedback@gist.com or post them as feature requests at our support site: http://bit.ly/d7wBS4

      Thanks,

      Greg

Love the Gist concept, but I use Mac Mail… any chance you will integrate with that anytime soon?
