Gist brings Social Profiles to Gmail

You asked for it and now it’s here!

There is nothing better than seeing more about the people that you exchange email with everyday.

Now, with Gist in Gmail, you’ll see a picture, social networks, work details, and contact information for everyone included on the email thread.

You even get the latest news, status updates from social networks like Twitter and Facebook, and blog posts for everyone in your inbox.

Here’s a quick video and screenshot to show you how it works:

Requires Firefox versions 3.5 or higher. Don’t have Firefox? Download here.

  • Lori Baxter

    Am I missing the instructions for how to activate it inside Gmail once you’ve downloaded?

    • http://blog.gist.com/ GregAtGist

      Lori -

      Have you tried:

      1) restarting the browser;
      2) clicking into a Gmail message;
      3) clicking the G logo at the bottom right-hand corner of the browser? (You can also use ctrl+G to toggle the add-in)
      4) selecting view > sidebar > Gist in the browser

      Thanks,

      Greg

    I 2nd, 3rd, 4th and add my own two cent vote for Chrome. The tool is great and has been helpful. It always amazes me when app companies release things something is always left out (iPhone vs. Blackberry — Chrome vs. Firefox). In any case, I sure do appreciate what you have done with Gist and how it helps me!

    Cheers.
